Hey guys, I'm new around here and have got a question about a car I'm looking at. A local guy here is selling his 1948 Buick Special for a very good price, and I'd love to pick it up, except for one thing. The tag that is located under the hood on the passenger side matches the tag inside by the drivers side door, but they do not match the transferrable registration. The tags are held on by small screws, not the original rivets. He claims to be the second owner after purchasing it from the original. I have no problem turning down a good deal if this car will have any issues being registered? Not worried about resale value or authenticity so much as actually being able to drive it around. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

BEWARE brother is a re-tag and illegal as heck walk away. It's a felony in most states.

Hmm I figured as much, damn it was only $1000 runs drives and needs barely any body work :) Not worth the risk, I'm in no rush!

In the state of Texas prior to 1956 cars were titled with the engine serial number, not the body numbers. Do some checking with your state MVD. Henry
