My 68 GS has a vinyl top.It has some rust bubbles.I was thinking about doing away with it all together.Either way the top has to come off. What do you all think?
if you want a numbers matching car i would take it off and redo it. if keeping it stock is not your goal, then i would take it off and leave it off. just my opinion i could be wrong.
>>If you are keeping the car do it the way you want to. I personally do not like vinyl tops, they trap moisture and I like the look of cars without them.
i like a vinyl top,it offsets the paint if its a different color.if installed right,it will take a few years of sitting outside to get moisture under it.i think most of us park in garages anyway.
I love vinyl tops on our cars, if you want to get rid of the top I'll buy the trim from you if you want to sell it. My car didn't come with one and I want one on it.
Just paint the top the color the vinyl was. The cars that came two tone had the same trim pieces used on the vinyl top cars anyway and the car will still have that same look. I like originality too but if you ever sold the car the next guy can put a vinyl top back on. Painting the top does not really ruin originality because it is easy to change back. It is a real pain having to deal with the rust these things cause. I am on my second rust fix because of those %#$@!&* things.
