WOW WHAT A track If you ever think you need to "trophy slip" Here is your track! "You don't have to worry about being put in FAST cause your going to quick!" Howz about 60 foot timing in the 1.73 range sound???????
JJ ran a bunch of 11.51's for a new pure stock record, Jim Mino ran a 12.10 for a new Pontiac record with Bruno right on his heels with a 12.23. I ran a 11.63 for a new personal best.
The track folks treated us like kings. They promised us 5 time trials Saturday morning before eliminations and did so! The track just plain hooks.
Of course Year One and Eaton were helping out, which is always nice. The complimentary food was amazing (thanks Ed Cook for cooking) and of course Bruno feed me lots as well. (Thanks Bruno)
Apparently it will happen again next year. We had 8 factory stocker and am hoping to at least double it to 16.
If your running low 12's, low13's or low whatevers, and would like to get the slip that moved you down into the next level, you need to give this track and event some thought!
Thanks to Eaton for giving out the posi for the best reaction time. I won it with a .003. Yep, that not a typo. Read em and weep fellas. I'm back in the saddle again!

Yes Dave, it was a pro tree. The previous record in Factory Stock racing was held by JJ about 10 years ago. It was at Columbus when #3 qualifier Randy Regatti was racing #6 qualifier Jimmy Johston. JJ knew what he had to do to win as he was slower by 3 tenths. He pulled off a .004 and that was with my 4 speed 427 COPO Chevelle. Records were falling all over the place in Virgina!

You guys put on a great show. I was there. It is a nice facility.

I thought I heard Dave H. in the announcer's booth at one point. Never heard an announcer with that kind of flair before.

Damn. My 2nd shootout run at Stanton was a 14.08 at 99+ MPH. I could only muster a 14.18 at 98+ at Indy in that 94 degree weather after that. I may have even got a chance to get a 13 or over 100 at VMP. I remember when we did that a few years back. Really fun to trip that digit. About killed the car trying to get it into the 12's after the 13.30 run at 105 at Stanton that one time. That was when it developed a taste for camshafts.
    .
Looks like I should have gone, but may not have been let back in the house when I got home. Was away racing for 3/4 of the previous weekends. Seems like Sept and Oct are becoming the busiest months for racing.

    Brian,
Don't think he meant the '58. We're too old to run there, only '64 up of whatever.

I might have the year wrong, But I'm sure my car and your Marauder were older than they wanted. Kind of annoyed me. Sort of like the guy at the gate at Stanton last year who sked me if I was sure I was in the right place. Told me "this is only for MuscleCars!!" Didn't want to take my money and have me be dissapointed. :bla: :bla:

.....or the tech guy at Indy at the Fall Olds Nationals when I told him I wasn't in the street class, but in the King of the Hill class for the show cars. He got real pissy and said: "Do you know this IS a drag race?" So I mimicked his tone and said "....and this IS a race car" Also told me I needed a long sleeve shirt in addition to my pull over sweats. 94 degrees? Idiot. Here's your sign.

Found out later he was a track guy, not part of the Olds group.

Peter, you just came up with the perfect solution so that I am not paired up with a yellow sub forever, Rob just has to run consistant 11.80s!!!!!

I still think Rob prefers to run you year after year instead of the Plain Brown Wrapper........

What a weekend! I really hope the trophy timeslips draw a bigger turnout of cars next year. Best pit party to date! Thanks a bunch to the Cook's for catering at the track and the after dinner "shots" at the hotel.

Congrats to JJ for the win........Pete for the "tree tutorial".....Dude "k" for the FAST win......Mino for the unimaginable 12.10 pass!

...And thanks to Tom Cannon for making me laugh my @#$ off!

This is the best hobby I've ever been a part of. You guys make this all the fun I can handle!

Cheers to FAST and F/S racing!
