make and Olds Hijack somewhere because of the latest issue of Musclecar Enthusiast has the big feature on the three 66's. Those look pretty cool. Dave, I heard you have a 66. How does it compare to the ones in the magazine?
Chris, He hijacked the whole friggin' issue!! He'll like that Bonneville "Super Tanker" too. He's got a soft spot for aging Indians, so do I actually, but please don't let it get around.:TU:
Absolutely correct, Frank. I made sure I read and drooled over that 59 Bonneville tripower convertible about 10 times before I went and read the 66 W30 article. Had the Pontiac been a 4 speed or a stick 3 speed, I would probably needed bed rest and tranquilizers. My 59 was a stick Catalina HT, but had quite a few others with my favorites being a tossup between my 61 Catalina convertible (389 4 bbl with 3 on the tree) or the 63 Catalina Convertible with the 421 HO, 4 speed and 8 lug wheels. Chris, I do have a very nice 66 442 HT that's been a problem child getting the final things done. It's nowhere near the Barrett Jackson quality of these three museum pieces (I doubt you'd ever see one of these on a drag strip or driven on the street). My 66 is now a 4 speed tripower L69, but was originally a 4 barrel automatic, but a real 442 with 44k orig miles and all the paperwork in the world. I'm the third owner. It will be sold as soon as I get these last few gremlins sorted out to finance completion of a 68 W30 and maybe even some well deserved TLC for the Ramrod. Long range plan would be to sell the red W30 and get just one more big "Ponyak" I hear Ken Riebel's doing one up now, and Lon about gave me heart failure when he told me of the one he found out there. So no formal highjack here.....for now. Well maybe one that resolves the age old question:
