Dude, They say that's from one of the Governors cabinet cars. If I get it does that mean I can shake hands with the Governor?o No::laugh::laugh::laugh: Duane Ok Dave, where is the "442" tag?
Right here http://www.ebay.com/itm/1938-PA-Lic...Parts_Accessories&hash=item20c9fc64aa&vxp=mtr Wrong year though
Technically, reproduction plates are NOT acceptable for use, it must be 'authentic'. From the Pa DMV application form: >>>"I certify the vintage registration plate is an authentic Pennsylvania registration plate for the year of manufacture"<<< I seriously doubt the state is going to inspect your plate to see if it is authentic, or a repo. But before laying out $100 for a repo plate, at least make sure the number is available by checking the PA DMV site. I just picked up a plate on eBay for $20, which is on the high side, but it starts with 196-6##, so it's a cool find.:bglasses:
Walt, I checked the numbers on the plate and it is still available. Thanks for the link. I got ya Tom, but I will stick with an original. Duane
Duane, That Rich has everything it seems, if you don't! I have a Liberty Plate as well which was issued from 1971-1976 I believe. How do I know what year mine is from? Mike
Mike, If you go to the following site it lists which plates go for each year. That will show you which varieties will work. Then you go to the PA Motor Vehicle site and check that that number is available. (as in not in use) That way you know the plate you are "buying" is still valid and can be put on your car. Here is the site. Duane http://www.ricksplates.com/pennsylvania/papass2.htm
Duane, OK, it seems I have a 1976 PA bicentennial state plate, not in use, with just a T sticker in right hand corner. If you or anyone has a use for it, let me know. Thanks. Mike
Register em if you got em boys! I submitted one of my PA Dealer plates, and I received it back yesterday with the new registration. I have several different Dealer Plates for the 1965 to 1970 style. The one I regstered has embossed PA New Car Dl'r. I tried this one first to see if it would go through and it did. I will register my other two Buicks with the other Dealer Tags I have.:TU: When I went to the Title and Tag service I always use, a local family owned business that has been doing this since the 50s, he advised me that there is nothing in the rules or statutes for PenDot to deny the Dealer plate being registered. He agreed that we should put it through to see.
Thanks for the update John! I'll be looking for one of those as well. Nice to know there are more options when looking for the 'right' number combo.:TU:
Guys, Does this mean if i register a old plate as Vintage it will take the place of a Classic or Antique? The reason i ask is in Pa i have a classic tag on my Camaro and have to get state inspection done every year. Cars with antique plates are excempt. - Oppps, never mind. I understand it now. These plates are for display only. The vehicle still needs to be registered as classic or antique. Doi~
In my case all three dealer plates went through Pen Dot no problems and are on my cars. The Plates are three differrent style dealer plates for the years 1965 to 1970. Only one plate had the year 1966 embossed, the other two I had to submit pictures of with a 1966 Sticker. Sent in and had them back within three weeks
