Not sure but the guy I know was selling the distributors unstamped. Seeing BYoung's WG wheel went missing , I would be cautious. I would think if I was to list a Stage I NOS sought-after distributor, I would eagerly put that in my listing instead of just sliding it by. Comes down to buyer beware.
The guy stamping the distributors, at least for Buicks, was/is a forum member here. I can picture his avatar but can't remember his name.
It seemed like the list was made by someone other than Dave & who knew some but not a lot about these parts - The FB acct is another Kleiner so maybe his son?
Yup, it's his grandson (Tyler) I received this list a few weeks ago and was considering purchasing all of it but the price was out of range (for me anyways) .
Definitely some nice/rare stuff but seems like the profit would be tied up in a lot of stuff that'd take a long time (if ever) to move. @donny1973 (post #25 in the thread Larry linked to) is who was making the distributors. Interesting thread.
I'm not expecting much with this 9L4 distributor but the price is decent and if nothing else I can learn what to look for in a re-stamp up close . . . . It's not going on my car but in the cabinet along with a bunch of other (mostly) original parts that came off my car and are tucked away for safe keeping while we chase the Stock Appearing time slip. In short who ever purchases my car someday down the road will get a cabinet full of OE parts that (mostly) came off my car. The entire drivetrain for my Stage 1 is set aside so we don't harm it racing. It has another motor, trans, rear end and drive shaft in it for racing. Car is currently undergoing a Frame off but when done we'll be looking for Low 11 Second time slips in a car that looks like it rolled off the showroom floor in 1970 (other than Drag Radials) My car is totally rust free so who ever buys it someday will be getting a super solid car with many rust free - pit free parts. I was super lucking finding this car. It came out of Colorado where they don't use much salt during the winter months. I've talked to quite a few other customers with Colorado Cars that are really solid cars. Great State to purchase a car from!
Todd. Some of the internals are specific to Stage 1 distributors as well. Each Stage 1 part carries a specific number. If this is something important to you, we can discuss it privately. So disturbed by restamp parts being passed off as original.
Jason, you are used to being on the other side of the transaction. Make Frank an offer he can't refuse. Moneybags.
