I know it’s a 5 mile long shot in the dark, but I need an original set of Kustom Headers for my Stage 2 Iron Head build project.
I know some of you guys have them sitting on a shelf, help a brother make a dream come true.

I know the kustom headers are harder to find than the stage 2 heads, back in the late 80s when I ran the stage 2 heads on my cars they leaked pretty good for a streetcar. So I ordered a new set from poston I thought they were all welded up when I receive them they were slip fit, almost identical to the Kustom headers. The only thing they’re missing is the 2399 on the flange see pictures could be another option for you. If I can’t find a set I’m gonna combine a set from T/A with a collector from MT’s Scavengers, imagine the sound that’ll make.

    Can’t see your attachment?

If you can’t see them PM, me your number and I’ll text them to you. I had to delete them because they wouldn’t go to full image. They should be there now I fixed it.

They look super close to the originals I got with the 4-bolt main motor assembly.

The only thing I don’t remember is wether the collectors had 4 bolts or just 3.

There are pics of them here on the thread about the Stage 2 motors.

Wall art. Those are the Poston or the Kustom? Either way I’m betting you want to keep them hanging on the wall.

The primary difference between the Kustom headers and reproduction S2 headers (aside from the part # not stamped on the flange of the Kustom headers) is the flange configuration. On the original headers the top of the flange is straight across, and the bottom is scalloped. The reproduction headers have the flange scalloped on the top and bottom. The tube configuration for the reproduction set is very similar to the original.

It is easy to tell the difference.

I've wondered how many sets were made by Kustom back in the day. Maybe 50? Regardless, it has been my experience that finding a set, let alone a set that is in decent condition, will likely be more difficult than finding a set of iron S2 heads.

Good eye Phi, never had them side-by-side. Here’s the Kustom headers.

I wish I had another set of kustom headers to send you. These will probably be freshened up and used as wall art.

Oh please don’t tell me that, art is supposed to be shared with the masses, the only way to share those is through the music they make….

If I ever have to sell the stage 2 heads they will go with them. That’s how I got them.

A little tidbit of information. Do yous know why the Kustom headers are scalloped on the bottom?
Designed to clear the early vertical boss heads…TA headers will not fit the vertical boss heads…
And yes, the Kustom headers are harder to find than the Stage2 heads. I think part of it is because they rust out over the years.

I’m probably gonna have to go with my first choice which is new TA Stage 2 headers, remove the collector and add the 30 in collector from my MTs if for the sound alone, nothing sounds better than MTs anyway.

I can make my own if need be, but I would rather have authentic.

I can tell you for a fact that the original Kustom Headers did not clear the vertical boss heads.

We had a set of the March 1970 factory Tunnel Port Stage II heads (with the vertical bosses) along with the Kustom Headers Denny Manner sent with the motor, and the flanges had to be cut out for the bosses.
