i just aquired a correct fitting double groove water pump pulley. the thing is is that compared to the one im running now it is about an inch in diameter smaller. this will speed up my water pump correct? and if it does am i going to see cooler temperatures or loss in horsepower; or both? or is everything going to be about the same. thanks, i hope im making sense joel
Pulley Diameter The pulley you have is for a/c or heavy duty cooling. Yes, it will speed up the water pump some. The single groove pulley on the non a/c cars is larger diameter.
Hi Joel, I hope you put some paint on that pulley before you put it on. I wouldn't worry to much about the hp lost to the larger pulley. More important is to make sure the fan clutch is working correctly. A bad fan clutch can cause the engine to overheat or make the fan steal way more hp than the water pump ever will. Bill.
i still havent put it on bill, but it does fit. i'll probably paint it tommorrow. the fan shroud didnt fit, too big, way to big. i think i might just order one from TA or year one. thanks again bill, joel
455 pulleys Joel, I put a set of 350 pulleys on my 455and the crank pulley was a bit smaller and temps good and performs well. IDOXLR8
