jeff bullock Dare to be different !!!

I just discovered yesterday that my water pump is getting ready to go KAPUT.Can any one tell me if there is much of a difference in the different parts store brands as far as quality goes. It seems like I just did this a few years ago and was wanting something a little more sturdy.Or could it be the fact my belts are too tight and putting too much strain on the bearings in the pump?I have kept a proper mix of anti-freeze in the radiator so I wouldn't think it would be from erosion. However I have been wrong before.Any thoughts on this? Thanks, Jeff B. P.S. Why does this stuff only happen when it's reallycold or really hot outside?

    Order one from TA

I got mine in the mail the other day. I don't think I've ever seen a BRAND NEW one before, they were all rebuilt ones. TA doesn't sell rebuilt.

It wasn't much more than getting a rebuilt one at Napa, and I'm sure TA would appreciate the business more.

Don't put a rebuilt on unless you "have to" !! I am pretty sure you can get brand new units for under $30 ....Try Advance Auto Parts if you have one near you.

Thanks guys.I did some looking around on line today and from what I could find at Advance,Autozone and O'Reilly's it sounds like I'll probably end up ordering one from either Year One or TA. I learned my lesson the hard way with re-built starters from these places.Once I went to a New Delco unit , the car starts easier than it ever has.Even when HOT.:TU:

I put a rebuilt pump on about 4 years ago and still going strong. I have an extra if anyone wants it. (reman)

Well, once again what should be a simple task turned into a major pain in the butt!Tried to order one from year one as TA doesn't take debit cards and I needed this sooner than a money order could get it here.Year one informed me they only carry the pumps for the 350's through 70'.What is the deal?Don't these guys(Year One)realize that the Buick 350 was still beng produced through 80'?Come on guys WAKE UP!!This is why TA beats YO as far as I'm concerned.TA has always been on the ball when it comes to realizing the Buick communities needs and Mike and Dave at TA,Sorry I couldn't order one from you guys but,I needed it sooner than I could wait.Don't worry I'm still a loyal customer and will continue to order my performance parts through you but this time was an exception due to time constraints. At least I am supporting my local Speed Shop. You know, the "little guys" that the big mail order parts companies are killing.:blast: Jeeesh, hope it's easier "next time".:Dou:

    Here is my 2 cents:

I am personally apalled at the poor quality of auto parts today.

Example? I put a NEW (not rebuilt)Auto Zone water pump in my '80 Regal 3.8 just 3 years ago. Guess what? Started leaking out the weep hole again.
That is BS! I have seen Alternators go the same way or even quicker. Yes, prices are much lower than they ever have been, but my God the quality has disappeared!

I'd use NAPA, NOT AutoZone or Advance.
