Wet road driving with drag radials

    Dear fellow V8 board members:

I read members comments on various
    brands of drag radials/cheater slicks.

My ride is primarily street and
occasional strip. Before I purchase drag radials
    let me ask this question:

Is there a drag radial (which brand)
which can be driven to and from the race,
    which provides superior traction/hook up,
and which also provides "wet road traction"
if one encounters rain on the way home...???

Can we have it "both ways" and if so,
    which one is "best"...???

    thanks,
    Ed

I have used bfg Drag radials since 2001, on my 4th set now. Drive everywhere on them, drove my car to ohio on them, and got caught in a monsoon of rain in Ohio in the summer of 2004, never had an issue. I believe the Mickey Thompson tires MAY be slightly better on the starting line, although I have not donea back to back test. OTOH, my bfgs have worked extremely well, and I couldn't be happier, wet or dry. I also have a detroit locker rear. I use the 315-60-15 size and generally get about 5k out of them.

I have M/T's on my car. I got caught in the rain once. Oh man, it was like driving on a skating rink. I couldn't go over 35 mph without the rearend dancing all over the place.

I have ran the nitto555r, bf goodrich drag radial, and the mt drag radials.

The nittos and bf goodrich were fine even in heavy rain as long as your not trying to give it a lot of gas. MT, well, i spin going up hills where i live barely giving it any gas. On the other hand MT performs much better at the track, so its just give and take, what do you want most.

This topic has been discussed a lot on the Turbo Regal boards. The consensus is: M/Ts hook best, wear out quickest, and can be dicey on wet streets. BFGs are a close second. Nittos are the best on wet streets, last the longest...and, as expected, come in third for traction.

I have BFGs on my GS and will soon have M/Ts on the GN...but I don't drive them when rain's in the forecast.

I had the M&H and they were awesome on the street and awesome on the track. I never encountered rain though.
