Restoring/converting '70 Skylark GS 350 auto with a Buick 455, M-20 w/ Hurst 4sp. Suggestions welcomed on what carb to use. Thinking of Quadrajet 800cfm. Was told by my now 'x mechanic' that he placed a 'beefier' cam and was bored out to 60 over! Why he did this I haven't a clue...but too late now!! Thanks for any suggestions.

800CFM Qjet is by most on here a great all around Carb. So you seem to have the right idea.

Some claim the Holley style cabs are better for single plane high rise intakes. Not sure though. I have not been there yet. I'm sure others will chime in.

If the cam is very large the Qjet might need a custom build for it

    Good Luck.

I like the quadrajet (of course), unless you are over 600hp. The Buick quadrajet can be set up for good idle and driving characteristics and deliver the power when needed.

Mark, thank you for the input. Not likely that the HP will be anywhere near the 600 level, o sounds like the 800cfm will work. From your thread, it appears that you work with these carbs. Will look at quadrajetpower.com. Thank you
