I just looked at a 72 Buick Skylark that has a 1970-1971 455 transplant in it. I could not get under the car to see what the trans was TH400 or TH350 however I could see the trans tag and it shows a large B then small numbers and then a large 1. What trans is this a TH400 or 350?
    Thanks

If it has a tag, it's probably a 400. Take a closer look, there should be 2 letters, like BA, BB, BC, BT List all the numbers on the tag. The vacuum modulator on a 400 is at a right angle to the case, and the pan is irregular shaped. The governor is behind a cover with 4 bolts.

Larry, the tag says 70T450 and 70BT.
    I suppose a 70 TH400?

70 BT is the 1970 Riviera THM400 trans behind the 455

Thanks that would be a short shaft correct?
What code would the 455 be? SF, SR?
