I just did a auto to manual convertion, the GM V8 fork i used hits the QuickTime bell houseing before it totally releases the throwout bearing . is there a fork just for this bell houseing? i didnt notice this when i put it together being 4 speed stupid. I can grind some metal away to make work, but i may just wait for a winter project, to fix it, because it runs great now, and a couple thousand miles this summer with the bearing very slightly rideing the pressure plate should not be a problem, i will change out bearing also, when i pull it apart.
i used a keisler repo one stock gm copy with my quicktime with no issuses . i did use the thinnest release bearing available from mcleod
I did not know at the time that there were different bearings, i think a little grinding can fix it. Do you know if they make a boot for the fork that fits the QuickTime bell?
All you need to do is switch out the throw out bearing to the thinner bearing. Don't grind on anything. There is not a boot for the clutch fork on the Quick Time bellhousing. In fact Quick time will tell you they do not recommend a boot as it induces heat. Good Luck.
how is that trans? i have heard good and bad i am thinking of the new ss700 from kiesler and put my Gforce in my other project
Seem great to me, but the only other trans i can compare it to is a M-21 in these cars. check out my thread, in U-shift em Also I will be pulling it apart soon to change out the bearing.
i will try and find it for you ---------- Post added at 11:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:10 AM ---------- 16010 mcleod
Got it changed out, all's well. The big difference it now it engages closer to the floor, so it is a positive clutch engagement, before it would grap to far of the floor and would feel like it was slipping, and also the presure plate was being pushed to far and putting to much presure on my linkage. Thanks for the help.
