I would like to know if the stock 350 fuel pum would feed my new combo? Its a 30 over 350, 10.1to1 ,TA intake ,Cleaned up heads, 800cfm Q jet off a 72 455, Poston GS 118 cam, headers,2 1/2 inch exaust, 2600 rpm stall in TH350 trans, with 3.23 posi. I need to know if the stock pump will feed this motor? if not then what is the option to the stock pump? I would like to stay away from elelctric if I can. I was told I might be able to take a stock 455 pump and use the pump arm off the 350 and that would solve my problem. Is there somone out there that can give me a hand with this? Thanks Doug
Same combo My engine is almost exactly the same, same cam, ported heads, Cr is closer to 11-1, 800 qjet, stg 1 intake and headers. I use a stock pump with no problem but would like to upgrade before I try a 100hp shot of NOS. What kind of car is your combo in? David
David would you mind telling me what jets you are using in your Q-Jet and what altitude your at? Thanks Sorry I don't have a recomendation for you on the fuel pump issue.
I have run N2O with the stock AC pump. Just don't use a cheese ball brand. To be safe, you could always add the NOS fuel pressure safety switch, but I didn't. 125 HP non adj plate. There aren't many choices for high perf pumps without going to electric.
The combo is in my 65 4 door skylark. I Could use one from some one like Kragens but feel a pump made by AC Delco or TRW would be a better way to go over just any pump. how fast have you got your car to go with this combo? I want soem low 14s and I'll be happy with just that. After all I have a 11 second BIG block car for all my really fast traveling:grin: Thanks Doug
well in my engine car craft magazine...the buildup on the buick 350 they recommended a mechanical pump made by poston called the stage 1 thats supposed to flow 120gph @ 8psi... that should be perfect.......btw hows that 118 cam run?
Poston Pump When I called Poston about the stg. 1 pump I was told it had been discontinued. Any one else have ideas on which is the best mech. pump out there? My engine with the GS118 runs like mad after 3000 rpm up to 6000 where I shift. If I had it to do over again I would look for smoething like a 112 or 114 LS with maybe 230 - 245 duration with a little over .500 lift to give a bit more low end. But don't miss read about the GS118 .. with the 2800 stall in the 200-4r and .373's there is plenty of tire smoke even in the heavy convert. David
Yeah your talkin about the ta 413 then its got .500lift and 234 244 and 113 ls.........Im still deciding on cams right now....im trying to balance cruising and racing......leaning toward the 212 or 310......As far as the fuel pump goes though....id try it with a stock type and see how she runs......check your plugs
