I am trying to find out if this picture of this grille off of ebay that is listed as a 71-72 GSX grille is the only grille offered for a 72 GSX? Or were there more than one offered for the 72 GSX?
That grille that you have pictured is off of a 71 SKylark. You need the 72 Plastic grille that was used on base skylarks and GS's.
I already have the grille you are speaking of, and I will post a pic to make sure we are on the same page. Are you saying that the 72 no matter what the car, whether it be a Skylark, GS, or GSX have the same grille just different emblem on it?
You got it!! As long as its NOT the one from the Skylark Custom which is metal. In 72 only 2 grilles were offered--plastic for all but the custom which is metal.
To add a little confusion,I know of a Framingham built '72 Stage 1 which came with the custom grille painted black. There are pictures of the car in 1972 which prove it.It also had a 12 bolt and 455 badges on the front fenders ahead of the front wheels(in addition to the Stage 1 badges in the correct location). Crazy I know! Rod
Humm I'd think the dealer installed the 455 badges, but hard to explain the grille (other than the line ran out). :eek2:
Rod - Is this Bill's GS? Is he on this board? Lots of weird stuff happened at the Framingham plant because they built all GM makes there. I've heard of several 12 bolt rear Buicks coming from that plant. If the car was coming down the line, and they needed a rear, they would use what they had on hand.
Marco, Yes it is Bill Arseneau's car. It certainly is unique. The great thing about it is that Bill is the original owner and can verify everything. Rod
