I was looking in the 70 chassis service manual to see how much my 70 GS weighs..it states...3523lbs Curb* weight, Is that with a full tank of gas and no passengers?? It does give fuel weight at 122lbs and coolant weight at 34lbs...but is next to the curb weight...

Curb weight is defined as the weight of the vehicle with its standard
equipment and a full tank of gasoline. Ideally, the curb weight is
subtracted from the gross vehicle weight and what's left is what the
manufacturer says can be carried in people and cargo.

Hope this helps as I think it is accurate....

And then to that you add what the options weigh like a/c, disc brakes, tilt, buckets/console, etcetc.....best way to get a real grip on what your car weighs is to go to a truck stop and put it on the scale.....usually free or they might charge you a good launch!!

Thanks for the reply...yea I think that is the way go Tim..I do have A/C...but also have T/A stage 1 intake & Headers...but then I put on 15 inch wheels & tires...and I did GAIN a few:grin: pounds over my ideal weight:laugh: ....I just bought a G-tech performance meter/pro...and you have to input the car's weight for horsepower out put...and that is why I asked about the curb weight.....

    Bill,
My 70 Stage1 is listed at 3738 lbs in the chassis manual. I have A/C, much thicker sway bars, 15 wheels power disc brakes, cast iron intake, and x-pipe exhaust with headers. I weigh 170 lbs, so I input 4100 lbs into my GTech pro. My registration says 4139. I think that is a good approximation. The GS 455 Stage1 that went 13.38@105.5 MPH in the 50 fastest list was listed at 3810 lbs, and that was a real stripper, no options at all, I don't even think it had power steering or brakes. I think the best way to get a car weight would be to put it on a truck scale like Tim R said. BTW, how do you like the GTech Pro? Have you made any runs with it? It said I went 13.177@ 107.60 MPH with a 60' of 2.2 seconds. Net HP was 273, and net torque was 339(Thats RWHP -air resistance, and friction with the road)I'm hoping that's accurate. Have you looked at their website? www.gtechpro.com They have a nice Forum , much like this BB, lotsa interesting questions and answers.

In which case you need "race weight", which is how much the car actually weighs when you make a timing pass. Depends on the curb weight, how much gas is left in the tank, did you take the jack and spare out of the trunk, what else did you take out of the car to make it lighter, plus your added weight. I got the weight for both of my cars at the county dump, the truck scale there was free. I just explained that I wanted my car's weight, I wasn't dumping anything.

Another place to find scales to weight your car is garden centers, home improvement places that sell bulk items. They never charge me a dime but they are dust as hell.

Another "free" set of scales can probably be found at your local land fill/scrap yard.

I took one shot with it in the 1/4 mile mode...just to see if it worked...it said 14.88 at 94mph...have not tried the HP mode yet..it says you have to input the weight first as you know..and that is why I want to weigh the car first so I have a good starting point...You have the new one don't you?? I got this one off e-bay for $49.00 + $5.00 for shipping...so thought I would give it a go..
Thanks for the tips on where to get the car weighed..I will have to see if one of these are near me...will let you know how much it weighs if I do..Thanks
