I have a 66 Wildcat and I pulled the motor and trans. How do I tell what kind of trans it is? And is there any way for me to tell if it needs rebuilt without taking it to a trans shop?
there should be a tag on the top of the trans. you should have a 401 or 425 with a sp400. if it has been sitting for a while i would take it to a shop. moisture will settle in the trans. the tag will start with bj bt then 400. if no tag describe the bottom pan. it should look like the bottom of a shoe.
