Question:My TH-400 transmission(non-swtch-pitch) has the 2.48/1.48/1.00 gear setup, and I heard that certain TH-400's have the 2.75 1st gear setup, such as the TH-400("BB") in the '70 Stage 1 and GSX's...I was also told that certain TH-400 trans that are in certain motorhomes(RV's)have the 2.75-1st gear setup. What advantage,if any would there be in putting the 2.75 gear set in my Th-400? Again, this is a street/strip car.any disadvantages? Thanks, Jay B.Britt,Jr.

i believe quicker acceleration, because you have the higher gearing.

Gas mileage might suffer some, and first and second gear will be shorter.

Also heard those gear sets were pretty weak (was looking at running one behind 700hp), they said it would blow that gear up first time i got on it.

I would think it would be fine up to maybe 550

Thanks, for the info,I also heard that some of the 2.75 gear sets were weak.I'll stick with the 2.48 in my TH-400. I guess..."If it ain't broke, don't mess with it! Thanks,Jay B.Britt,Jr.
