    :(
The other night while cruising I had my left driver window drop about a half inch on the end close to the lock plunger. Today I decided to take the panel off and see what I could figure went wrong. I ended up removong the entire window assembly, crank, vent window, all hardware included to try to fix it. I found out the problem is the little plastic roller on that end was broken. How do I find the proper roller and if so do I have to remove the piece the roller is going on by grinding off the rivit holding it to the slider? If possible I would like to replace all three rollers. Any one ever have this problem? If so what did you do to replace these parts? Thanks in advance.

    window

bill, is it power window or manual? what year and make of car? it sounds like you need the whole window regulator. depending on the age of the car you should have no trouble finding parts.best place for a new window regulator is the dealer. bring your broken parts with you so you can show the guys at the parts counter what you need.if theyre no longer available you may have to try a salvage yard. good luck

I must have been tired when I posted this problem. My car is a 65 Buick GS. The windows are manual. Thanks to all for response. John, sorry I haven't called you. I didn't think you would want to tear your 65 apart. I have to work tomorrow, but I could call before 1:00 PM. Take care all.

Bill No big deal to help you out. Matching mine up is the best way to know we have the right one to fix yours.
Call me when it is good for you.
I am just trying to get everything ready to move into the new shop, and also a trip back to the east coast.

If you can find the right size, rollers from a shower door can be made to work. Normally not available at retail outlets.

    Thanks TXGWILDCAT,
I was able to find a part that is made for the windshild wiper scraper or something, from my Kingman Auto Parts store. I had to modify it with my bench grinder and a drill. It doen not spin but it fits in the sliders and I used a lot of axle bearing grease. The window goes up and down smooth for now. I replaced the window rubber while I had it apart with parts from Steel Rubber, my only complaint is the window outside scraper was not as original. I had to drill holes in it and I beleive I may have to look for NOS scrapers before my windows will roll up all the way without extra effort at the top, and down. I plan to call steel rubber with my complaint, I am totally dissatisfied with that part. I liked the other parts I received from them. Man what a job to completely dismantle the window assembly amd also the wind wing and replace all rubber. I did the same thing to the right side door, and still can't get the regulator adjusted correctly. I have the same complaint with the outside scraper as the left. I may give up on replacing the regulators, since my right regulator rollers are in good shape for now. I will let you know what I find out from Steel Rubber.
    Thanks and take care.

I did some more adjusting this morning on my right side window regulator and it works good now. I guess sometimes we try too hard for too long and find out if we let somethings set they will come together at another time with less stress. I am still going to call steel rubber. I want to locate a pair of NOS Weatherstrip Door Beltline Outer P/N LH 5718955 for the 65 Buick Skylark 2 Door Hardtop. Anyone here have a set? I will be glad to buy from you. Take care all.

    Rob,
No problem, I was able to get it all working and back together. Why not save them in case someone else on this board needs them. I would be taking advantage of your kindness by accepting these parts at this time. I really appreciate the fact that you meant to ship them and understand how we all can get sidetracked for a moment. No need to apologize, however I learned a bit about the challenging task of bringing back a classic from a bygone era. Take care Rob.
