I have a 1971 skylark with a 455 in it. is there and oil pan out there that i can use on the market that will clear the cross member? any help would be appreciated.
I also have a '71. My stock pan fits with the block girdle. I have not modified my cross member. -Ben
the stock pan will fit . but i want to put a pan on that holds more oil and keeps the oil in the pan and not running up the block.
I have an SRE oil pan on my girdled 455 but i cant tell you how well it fits yet. the guy i bought the engine from had it in his 65 skylark.
I should have elaborated a bit more. My pan is a SRE modified stock to hold more oil. I think this is the cheapest way to get a higher volume pan that still fits with the cross member. He modifies the sump to make it deeper but the front of the pan is unchanged thus it fits fine.
