I'm trying to do this on a budget. I was thinking about seat covers and door panals for a 61 Impala since I believe these are available aftermarket. I kind of cringe on doing this, but I need to do something reasonable. Thanks, John
Found this on JC Whitney. Comes in channel quilted and double quilted. I'm not sure what the difference is. Supposed to look like a factory seat cover, but the original seat cover is not removed. Kind of weird? Anyone have any experience with these? http://www.jcwhitney.com/leather-gr....jcwx?skuId=215700&filterid=c15716d198y1961j1
Are you any good with a sewing machine? I just came from the local fabric shop (Joanne Fabric's) - I was looking for black vinyl to do some custom work on my 71 skylark 'vert. There are several different types of vinyl (mostly black) that are grained just like our cars. I was thinking of taking my old arm rest covers (to use as a pattern) to a local tailor (think - commercial sewing machine) and asking if they could stitch new ones together for me. After that I was thinking of taking them to Wal-Mart and having the Buick Tri-shield embroidered on them.:idea2: The fabric shop also had foam in various thicknesses and densities - food for thought. Another option is to go to a boat/auto upholsterer.
