I have a 1970 Electra stock everything and I know that the rear end is some sort of 12 bolt but not like the regular GM 12 bolt :Do No:
I need to know what kind it is so that i can get some sort of locker or limited slip for it

We need pictures and measurements . It would be best if you could measure the carrier out of the rear. sectional width ring gear diameter etc. Jim

Should be a Buick 9 3/8 inch rear.

    GMStroker:

If the rear end is stock, you have a 9 3/8" rear end, probably 2.90's gear ratio if it's not a posi and the car does not have a lot of options. There are 10 bolts on the cover, but 12 bolts inside on the carrier. If they're set up correctly, they're almost "bullet-proof."

Parts are VERY difficult to come by, especially if you want to change the gear ratio. There are many posts concerning these rear ends on this board that have a ton of good info. Hope this helps!

Thanks, yep the rear end is completely stock and i was afraid that parts would be almost impossible to come by. Is there anyone who has gears, spools, etc. for them or would i be better off goin with a whole different set up? Say maybe a Dana, or a 12bolt?
