All depends on the reason for taking it there. Are you just establishing a baseline reading? Tuning for driveability? Tuning for power? What car? Stock? Modified? Race?

Any reputable shop is going to want to install O2 sensor bungs for testing, and if you have headers, they're probably going to want to install 8 of 'em!

If you're going just to see how much power you're making, you're there for the wrong reason. A dyno is a tuning tool.

Parts you might want to bring include: different carbs, jets, spacers, etc. This list could go on and on . . .

It's really a matter of what you're trying to accomplish!

    Agree with above.

If you are going for a number, take some depression meds with you. Remember, dyno's don't win races.
It will tell you your HP and torque numbers and print you the curve of power, showing where you make the peak HP and Torque. It will show you where your power falls off, so you know where to shift.

Cost? Not sure, we have access to one for testing. Cost will vary based on the service they provide and how many pulls you do. Probably $200 to $500?

What do you need? If tuning, follow above thread. If for fun, just pull up and go. They say if you can get traction at a track, you can get it on the dyno.

Is it risky? Well, it works that engine and drive train probably harder than you have ever run it. Scares the crap out of me everytime Tyler does his car, and he has done a bunch, for tuning purposes. The numbers are just for comparison, not for bragging rights.

Different dyno brands can have a significant different HP number because of the way they base the power.
