Not mine... Way too much time on his hands? Aspiring artist? https://www.facebook.com/marketplac.../?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search
I don't get how people will spend so much time building a custom and make it so darn ugly. Why not use the time to build something everyone would like. Uhhhh maybe ask some friends or complete strangers ?
It does have a Colorado plate on it . But if you smoked that much grass you wouldn't have the Ambition to build that . You would just want to " Chill "
Far from it! Chevettes were nothing to get excited about, but they were dependable basic appliances that did what was expected of them. There were no surprises, good or bad. I’d suggest anything that couldn’t make it out of warranty or failed to live up to the owner’s expectations come before the Chevette, such as V-8-6-4 and HT 4100 Cadillacs, the Citation and some of the modern efficiency ideas (turbo 4s that melt pistons, front wheel drive SUVs that have fragile transmissions, 3.6s that eat timing chains). Basically none survived. Even down here very few pre ‘95 front drivers remain on the roads. I’ve had both a ‘93 skylark, and a ‘91 century and will attest they are far better than earlier fwd offerings.
Parents had a Citation I couldn't wait for that to go away. Thank God they didn't try and pass that down to me.
‘80 chevette currently @ east El Paso pick a part. Solid body but sun baked. Loaded with auto, ac pb and ps. Probably cost as much new as a lightly optioned Malibu, maybe more? Frankly cannot understand why in the world someone would have bought a car, like this new, when a mor e substantial car could be had, for same money.
Upon looking at OP's pictures, that rear Quarter window appears different than Chevette. Pinto? Honda Accord? Figure since it has what appears to be Metric rear end, the Guy used a RWD subcompact clip. That was Leaf Sprung to begin with.
...something like that is best done as a scale model in a scale other than 1:1. As for Chevette, had one, best commuter car I ever had from that era. 2 door, stick, hatchback, 100 miles roundtrip per day. Never even adjusted clutch, but then only used it from dead stop, otherwise smooth clutchless shifting (better than my BSA A10), and there were only 2 traffic lights between home and I66, and 2 more at other end...
Anyone remember the ‘Bad Seed’ Chevette? https://www.reddit.com/r/carporn/comments/fg1p3y/steve_magnantes_bad_seed_chevette_500_cubic_inch/ Patrick
Oh yeah. Did Magneto build that in the pages of Hot Rod or Car Craft. I remember following it years ago!
The shape looks the same, same goes for the fuel filler door with the missing corner and the corner of the rear bumper:
They sawzalled out most of the firewall and trans tunnel, to shoehorn a Cadillac 500 with turbo 400 in the thing.
