Just wondering what to do as I start to take apart my cars? I have a real rusty, complete 69 gs, a 69 lark complete, and a 69 cal GS shell. Until I get into them I won't know what I'll need and what I can sell and what is junk. For example I have three front bumpers, two are mangled and not worth anything. I don't think I can just throw this stuff away? I have a one can garbage limit. I have suprised myself with what I can stuff in the thing, LOL. But body parts just will not fit. Here's how I think it will break down, I'll be using the Cal GS frame, real clean and never hit. The 69 lark body, it's from Texas and clean, The GS drivetrain, interior, hood, chrome.. That still leaves me with the interior from the lark, a junk 350 block, junk tubro 350, 4 extra front quarters, two extra core supports, you get the idea. A lot of stuff. If it's worth anything, I will offer it up. But there's just so much. What's the best way to dispose of it? I really won't have much in the way of a rolling chassis. The GS has disc brakes, do I need to reuse the spindles or are they all the same? Can you just get a big dumpster? Thanks, Rich
....as for disposal, there MUST be some scrap metal places near you. they pay by the pound, so start a pile and wait to take it ALL at once, including bad frames and body pieces. Whats "desireable" from 69's ?? Core support, Inner and outer fenders, and quarters,inner/outer rear wheel housings. any trim thats in pit-free condition, all lighta and markers that arent cracked or broken, Dash pads, instrument clusters, guages and switches.....even seat belts Options, such as consoles, power window setups, Tilt columns, sport wheels, map lite mirror, right side mirror, Basically ANYTHING thats not bashed, pitted, or rotted/rusted has some value. Even seat belts can fetch decent $$$. ....SO before you chuck it, Take a picture and post it in the For Sale forum - More $$$ for your resto !!! :beer
Thanks Alan, I guess I'll just pile it up, wait for the wife to disaprove then haul it away. It's interesting when I start comparing my 3 cars, this part is bad on one, good on another. This winter is going to be just that, compare/trade/sell/give away/pitch. Stay tuned. Rich
