It will work in a turbo 350 or a turbo 400. I doubt you have a stock turbo 350 but without seeing the pan, it is hard to guess. I'd bet on it being a turbo 400. Do you know if it is a switch pitch or not?

pic of the pan will confirm. t350 wil have modulater on back and cutout on back right and kickdown cable. t400 has modulater on side and roundish cut out front and back on right elec kickdown.

If it's original, you have a Turbo Hydramatic 400 (which Buick may still have called a Super Turbine 400 in 1968). Torque converter is a fixed pitch design so it'll work with the aftermarket TH350/TH400 converters out there.

Ask about the aftermarket converter's flexplate bolt pattern, as it's possible your flexplate is only drilled for a large diameter converter from the factory, and some aftermarket smaller diameter converters use the smaller bolt pattern. You might get lucky and find your flexplate is already drilled for both.

thanks for the responses guys, i know it is fixed pitch and the vacuum mod is on the front right hand side.
I believe this converter will fit both bolt patterns

Then other than flywheel bolt pattern, it will mechanically work in the transmission. With a heavier car and larger motor, it may flash slightly higher than advertised. I seem to remember a turbo 400 will stall slightly higher than a turbo 350 with the same converter as well. Still, it sounds like a fairly mild converter.
