No, it wasn't anything that fell off of my Dodge!

This is what happens when one runs over a mattress with their car. This chap ran over this Sealy Posturpedic and dragged it for about 60 miles. The springs wrapping around the driveshaft finally punctured the fuel tank. Running out of gas is what stopped this guy' car. He was wondering what the "little shimmy" was while he was on the freeway?!?!? :doh :doh

    WTF?
I'm sorry, but how can anyone be that oblivious to,
    A. not see the matress in the road.
    B. not feel, or hear that matress being dragged under the car?

From the size of the tires and the carrier bearing on the drive shaft it has to be a truck. And would be easy to run it over and just keep going, hight wise.

Though the noise is a different story, unless he was jammin out.

Could of easily not felt it.

Had the caliper lock up on the Buick but never knew it, till the bearings started to smoke. Had plenty of power to over come the brake and I felt nothing.

If he didn't hear it, it could of easily wrapped up like that and felt nothing as far as power loss.

Even though no one died in this act of stupidity, I am thinking a good canidate for nomination of the Darwin award.

We had a customer car this week with a "brake problem" ....... A Yukon that had a squishy brake pedal.

............ :Dou: Maybe it was the fact that the previous owner had tie-wrapped the caliper to the upper control arm and left it like that. :puzzled: :)

It's the rural version of "stop-sticks" used by the police.
They just toss a matress on the road, and voiala and yee-haw!

Do you think maybe the shower of sparks flying out from under there might have tipped them off?
