ah, I'm a recent convert from the DR Olds camp. Over our side of the fence we call an early hardtop a Holiday. Be it a 2 dr or a 4dr, mid '50's hardtops are Holiday's.
Is the equivalent Buick terminology a Riviera??? I know there is a whole line of Riviera's, but every time I see the term Riviera applied it is to a hardtop or coupe.
I have a 4 dr pillarless Roadmaster ('57 73A) Is it correct to call it a Riv? :puzzled:

You are correct. Holiday was Olds' marketing term for a hardtop. Riviera was Buick's.

I too, have a 1957 Buick Roadmaster model 73 Riviera. My model 73 has the one piece rear window with the two strips of chrome that come down the roof over the glass and down the trunk lid, giving the appearance of a three piece window. I understood that the model 73A had no chrome dividers and the glass simply appeared as one piece. Is that correct???

Maybe they should have called the Toronado a Holiday instead! :Dou:

Can you post a picture of the rear? I did read somewhere that the early Series 73's had a 3-piece rear window (?) but it was discontinued because of public opinion, and the one piece was retained.
If you have what I think you have, it is the early '57. That must be rare?!

I believe starting in 1949 Buick Hardtops were called Rivieras which meant it was a hard top. The first actual Riviera was in 1963 and had its own body style. They are all cool:TU:
