guys i rebuilt my q-jet months ago and it runs like a champ. I saw that jegs sells rebuilts for $310. Whats mine worth? im trying to get a guy a really great carb but not sure what to charge. i said $200. am i asking to much?
Are you sure it is a 750? That looks like a 72 or later intake on the car did it come with that. If it did it is a 800 CFM. What are the part #s. And if it is original why would you want to sell it?
im swapping on a poston intake and selling another board member the stock intake and he was also looking for a carb. i just thought i would sell him a ready to bolt on carb and save him the hassle of rebuilding one. i was just wondering what a fair price would be. its hard finding q-jets that arnt frozen up in the junk yards.
From the number you posted, its a 1975 Q-jet. I dont think they're worth all that much. Maybe 50-100 bucks? Check Ebay completed auctions to see what people are paying for them.
$50-100 my eye! that damn kit cost me $45 to rebuild it! lol. no biggy tho. i just wont sell it. its been to good of a carb for me.
does it really make a difference if its a smog carb? i dont have any smog stuff set up on it. any holes that i didnt use were plugged. Doesnt seem to be hurting performance.
The problem is that those carbs are a dime a dozen so to speak- no offence. Generally speaking, the only Q-Jets that bring big money are the 66-73 400-455 carb with the correct casting numbers. As a recent example, Dustin's 7040246 carb (which was a rebuildable core) went for over 2000.00. And the only reason were those little numbers on the side.
guys, isnt that the 800 cfm carb ? i dont think jon wants to sell it to a collecter, but was asking from a performance point of view. o No:
For what it's worth, even if it were the original carb, it wouldn't be an 800, since that motor is a 350 :Smarty:
Even so, I can't see a home rebuilt carb, even if running perfectly, being worth anything over $150, tops. You can buy a Tomco, Holley, etc. rebuilt carb over the counter at an auto parts store for that.
Are you sure these numbers are corrct. I can't get it to match the ID numbers. The first three digits 170 indicate that it is a 1976-1979 carb. If you want to know about CFM look inside the primarys and check the size of the bumb. It is helpfull to have two carbs of different size to compare. I know someone has some pictures of them.
yeah i was just curious if it was hurting any performance. Knowing the CFM would be nice but its not important now. Im not gonna sell it anyways, Just curious what it was worth. To me its worth over $100 lol. Junk yards here that sell them ask $50 for a rebuilder and most of them are frozen up. So really, is it hurting any performance at all? this car will really get up and go.
OMG, I think I'm gonna faint!!! $2000 for a Stage 1 Carb?!!!! I have one sitting in my garage that is in good shape and ran good when I took it off the car last fall, it's even still sitting on the intake. If I could get $2000 out of it, I'd be at the post office today shipping it off!!! The funny thing is, I was looking aorund this forum trying to see if someone had an 800CFM carb for a good price. My car isn't going to be all original anyway, so a diffferent carb (still a Quadrajet though) and some $$ in my pocket, (well, in the pocket of T/A or Postons) might be in the future. :TU:
If the car runs well, I would not worry about it. It's not that critical on a 350 anyway, 750 or 800 CFM would be more than you will need.
