NO WOW as in this thread has gone too far from what the dude wanted.....:spank:
I know GM is not just good but the best... and the reason people put a chevy in a ford is so atleast it doesn't run like a Fix or Repair Daily, Found on Roadside Dead, or Driver Returned on Foot.... That's what....:birthday:

In 1986 it was Buick Grand National vs Ford Mustang 5.0. Chevy was no where to be found. I could smack around the RS Camaro all day long with my 350 when it was slow. Ford Mustang restarted the Musclecar era in 1984. The Ford 5.0 motor is now a decent motor for an old car. Engine has good power, good gas mileage and has Factory forged pistons.

Except the blocks split FAR under where the Buick 350 can handle for hp.

You are right about that one. My brother had his running in the low 12's on the motor...then he bought a procharger. Broke that block! He had to buy a stronger block. He ran somewhere at 10.75 @ about 130 with the stronger block but now he keeps breaking the trans.

Why not just try and get a Turbo V6 engine for the car. I think this would be a great way to go and tons of go fast parts. Same as the 350 Buick without two cylinders and Turbo to boot. There are really so many other Buick options out there and they will fit. So why go anywhere else?

    I could see a Turbo V6 in my 4 door Skylark.:Brow:

No Buick parts in Australia. I put a GM 502 engine in my 72 skylark after I burnt the pistons out with the twin turbos on the 350. I still use my car every day and am coming up with an EFI twin turbo build for my 350 engine, it may take a couple of years but it will be back in the Skylark. In the mean time I can still go to the track, last week I ran a 12.3. It's still a Buick on the outside and if People don't ask then I don't tell. I see Holden guys here putting Supra engines in 1970's model Toranas and Monaros. At least they are on the road and having fun. Matching number engines can always rest in the Garage for when you want them. In the mean time have some fun.

Heres the 502 and the 350. I'll be putting japanese rods in the buick 350, will it still be a buick engine?

Can I be Capt Obvious here?

Why not just swap in a good running used Buick 350? Good running Buick 350's are literally a dime a dozen. I bought a 40k mile 350 for $160 once. Ran like the day it was made. The cost to swap it in will be cheaper too vs a remanufactured engine. Or am I missing something here?

If you own an old car and your toolbox consists of a checkbook and a pen, your probably in the wrong hobby.

    Should post where you are.
You might get some guys showing up at your door to hear the Buick motor run. If she's a good runner, you might get little help pulling that old motor and tranny and find a few bucks in your pocket.

You can use that money to get your cheby engine, or put it in the bank so that some day when you go to sell your buick you will have a few bucks to help offset the loss you take on your car by having that belly button motor in it.
