What's this carb worth?

Discussion in 'Carter' started by David Gramlow, Feb 18, 2004.

  1. Might be selling this carb, but I have no idea what a fair price is? It is a mid-late 90's Carter Competition Series 625cfm with electric choke. It is a model 9635. It was on my 350 when I bought it, but I'm likely putting my 750 Qjet on this spring. I checked a couple carb sites, and it is listed as no longer available, but similar Carters look to run in the mid $200's range, like $259 or so. I'll post a couple pics:

I sold my 600cfm Edelbrock on ebay for $200 with 20k miles on it. Clean it up and throw it on ebay. I don't think you can lose - too many kids out there looking for a cheap upgrade to their camaro.

If memory serves me right, Carter stopped making them and Edelbrock now has the rights and is making them. I would say being a used 625 CFM about $100 is a fair price. You can buy a new Edelbrock for about $220-$240. When I get around too it, I'm going to sell my Edelbrock 750 with strip kit for $125. I need too get a new Demon carb first ($700 ouch!).

I let a friend borrow my brand new Edelbrock to put on his monster truck......
He rolled it into a telephone pole a week later and my carb was destroyed. :Dou:
He wasn't injured... except maybe his heart because his truck was totalled.

Anyways.. I'm no expert on carbs, but I did look at alot of them, and bought a few this summer, and $200 is probably on the high side of what I would expect you do get out of it. But you're not too far off.
Just my opinion though. Good luck!

$200 is definitely high! I was really surprised to see it jump like that. But it just goes to show you, sometimes (I hate to say it) ebay does pay off.

  7. Actually, Doug Updike is looking for one like mine, and I want to give him a decent deal on it, if he decides to buy. I was also thinking in the $100 range, considering it is in good running condition, at least for my 350, and not too old. He's working on a dual 625 setup.
