I'd just like to know why most of the parts companies offer lots of parts for AMC, which I can't find examples at most car shows or on the street. And rarely can I fine parts for a buick except at TA/Poston/Year one. And there are a lot more buicks out there.:rant:
I would agree! I think AMC's are kind of cool and unique in their own way, but I would venture to guess that Buick's out number them by quite a few, (although I could be wrong?). Add to that the fact that Buick guys everywhere are begging for new HP parts as well as restoration parts. We have come a long way though, in the past few decades. I think the whole "Bull Dog" thing really set us back in the drag racing world. Hopefully the new TA block will make up for that down the road. (Let's all cross our fingers!) I do think that owning a Buick is always going to be a struggle in one way or another, after all it's a Buick...not a Chevy, Ford, Mopar, Pontiac, ETC. Back in the day, those brands all had factory backing to perceive them as the baddest cars on the street, strip or track. And yes, even AMC did more to promote high performance than Buick ever did. Buick was always "understated" and never had the "masses" yearning for them like say, Chevy did. That perception holds true today too. Look at what Buick offers in todays auto lineup. In my opinion the Buick name doesn't really even exist anymore. They're now cookie cutter vehicles based on someone else's designs with NO high performance offering at all. I guess that maybe we should be a little thankful that the Buick "fever" never really caught on, because if it did, it just somehow wouldnt be the same. But in the end you are correct. We do need some bigger manufactures to "step up" and start producing a few more Buick items! We'll see! Steve
