Where can I get a choke coil?

I believe the choke coil in the intake on my 70 Stage 1 is bad but I've had no luck finding a replacement thermostatic coil. Three auto parts houses locally have been unable to assist me. Does anyone have a source for this part?

The engine will fire and idle fine but once you're rolling if you get into it it seems to build up in the carb and bog itself down. Then on restarts it's not very responsive and requires holding the pedal to the floor. I've checked vacuum pressure and am doing OK there. Any suggestions - it's a 72 800cfm carb 7042240

    Thanks!

A&D Auto Parts in North Royalton, OH would probably be able to help you. They specialize in old NOS stuff. They had all kinds of goodies for my car in there.

Their number is 440-237-9300. Ask for John or Doug.

They also do come up on ebay from time to time. Nothing right now though.

If it starts good cold, then loads up, my first suspicion would be the choke pulloff, and/or the pulloff adjustment, rather than the coil.

Is the passage for exhaust heat in the manifold clear, and does the heat riser valve work? You'll go nuts trying to adjust the choke coil if it isn't warmed properly by exhaust crossing under it. (And one of the first modifications a guy makes is to eliminate the exhaust going thru the intake manifold, 'cause it heats up the incoming air/fuel once the engine is at operating temp. Even if all you do is install headers, you throw away the heat riser valve.)

Thank you both - I'll be looking in to both suggestions tomorrow. IF the weather cooperates. I really appreciate the assistance! :)

The heat riser omission was never a problem with warmup on my car. I have an aluminum intake with the choke sitting on top of the intake and it still warms up just fine.
