    Mike,
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 is the correct firing order. Distributor rotation is clockwise. The #1 tower is the first tower clockwise from the point adjustment window in the cap. That is location that Buick installed the #1 wire. In reality, it doesn't matter. As long as the firing order is correct, and clockwise around the cap, you could have the #1 wire at any tower.

Good point about the rotor/#1 position Larry:TU:

I'd like to mention: in some manuals like Chilton's, be careful on using the diagrams provided. Sometimes they give the HEI and points firing order diagram side by side. It's possible to get confused and place all wires 1 tower off, by referring to the wrong diagram, ie: you look at points, but have an HEI, and place the wire at what looks correct, but you're looking at the wrong tower for #1! On those diagrams, it will show 2 hold down positions for the points type, and 4 for the HEI style. The order is the same, naturally, but I have been confused by the two diagrams being ever-so-slightly different in the past.

Thanks guys!!! I dumped my HEI for one of Dave's Conversions and a 6AL. Cant wait to get it up and running and then add my 800 Q-jet from Mr. Osborne (he did a great job, it lookes very stock:grin: ).
