I am restoring a 70 GS and I'm at the point where I need to buy body parts, things like floor sections, rear quarters, inner and outer wheelwells. Now here is the problem, in reading this forum I learn that Tabco makes the best quarters so I call them. The Woman that answers tells me that the parts that I need are "out of stock". When I ask when they will get them she says she does not know. She can't tell me if it will be 2 weeks or 2 years. I'd like to spend a wad of money with Tabco but I need to know when to expect the parts.

Now there are other places to buy body parts ( Rustrepair.com, Sherman Parts, The Parts Place, OPGI, and Year one) but are they any good?

Has anyone out there dealt with these other guys? And how do their parts fit?

Thanks in advance for your answers

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Well, I have been using Tabco qtrs for a long time and they are excellent. Made in USA and nice gage metal. I would contact them again and place an order. They usually make a production run and I would not expect them to take long, 1-2 months.

While you are waiting, you can do a lot of other work. The inner wheelhouses are all the same. So, get them from a Chevelle dealer/aftermarket place. I have been dealing with www.nationalpartsdepot.com and they have several stores. My closest one is only 100 miles away in Ocala FL so I get my parts next day from them. If your floors are bad, don't do sections, get a new 1 piece floor from them. Cost is $300 and it is primo.

As for outer wheelhouse.....no luck! You will have to get them from a donor car. If all you need is the outer 2-4", you can use them from any 2 or 4 door car. Contact mike@mrbuick.com He has several 4dr parts cars.

I also called Tabco about their rear quarter skins and was told the same thing.
Then I called The Parts Place and they had them in stock.Made in the good ole
    USA!

Yep the Parts Place has the quarters in stock as of last week. I had the same problem dealing with Tabco on floors last year, said out of stock but should be in in "2 weeks"...after 2 months I cancelled my order and got them from Goodmark. Interesting thing to note is Sherman Parts lists the Parts Place as one of their dealers. I'll get mine from Parts Place just to save the $ on shipping ( and to support a board member of course!)
