Where to Connect the Charcoal Canister

If I want to hook up the black charcoal canister (for EVAP system), where does the line connect to in regards to the engine? I have an aftermarket 14" chrome air cleaner and a Q-Jet. Does it connect to one of the ports on the carburetor? If so, which one? All the other lines for the EVAP system are hooked up where they're supposed to be.

It connects to the snorkel of the stock air cleaner.

Thanks, Brad. If I'm not using the original air cleaner (there's no snorkel on my aftermarket air cleaner), should I just tap into the bottom of it?

You could do that, but why? That canister does next to nothing. In 1971, it connected to the carburetor. In 1972, it hooked to the end of the snorkel. I would just eliminate or block the hose at the canister.

Good question, Larry. There really isn't any much reason to do it other than just for the heck of it. I'm in the middle of redoing most my fuel system right now and didn't even know what the canister was for until recently.

Yeah, I mean to me, it would be more trouble than it was worth. Some open air cleaners have a "knock out" on the base where you can mount a hose nipple, but then you would need to route the canister hose to the air cleaner. Think about how you would do that. Like I said, more trouble than it is worth.
