Back in the late 80's I use to tow my 70 GS with my 1973 Riviera GS. You first have to find a class 3 hitch for a 71-75 full frame LeSabre, Electra car. Then have a good welder cut the welds on the hitch, narrow it and fit it and then re-weld it up. The hitch is BOLTED not welded to the car and you have to make sure the reciever end is far enough from the pointed bumper so the bumper does not interfere with the tonque. I also bought an adjustble height tougue as the Boat Tail sits low in the back and I needed to raise up the front of the trailer. Also get air bags for the rear suspension, equalizer bars and a sway control all are a MUST! Trust me on this I towed for a good number of years with my '73 and now I tow with a 73 Centurion.

This is what I ended up doing as I found no one makes a class 3 hitch for the boattails, NO ONE. Search e-bay, the internet and any and all trailer outlets. I found a new one for my Riv in a ware house in Maine and paid $250 back in the late 80's. When I sold my Riv I sold it also with the hitch ( wish I didn't) My Centurion I hunted for another and a trailer outlet did the searching on the internet and found one, this time it just bolted up. They found it off the internet, new old stock a draw tite hitch. So there are out there, you just have to be persistant on your search.

Now finding one new...I do not know of anyone making them new as these cars are way to old to be listed. As for the Riv, like I said, you will have a better chance seeing Jesus Christ posting on this board before you find a company that makes a class 3 hitch for the Boat Tails.

Start hunting for the 71-75 LeSabre, Electra class 3 hitches, google search. The other route is just going to a trailer outlet and having one custom made, but expect to pay $$$.

    Good Luck!!
