Hey guys, Im redoing a 67 special that has been in the family since new. one stumbling block has been some trim and bumpers, and trying to find better parts to send out for replating. I just came across a 66 skylark, still a 2dr hardtop. the bumpers sure look the same, other than the placement of the backup lights in the rear bumper. I just want to be sure that they are the same before i buy the car. It also has a 340 the guy tells me, which i wouldnt mind swapping in if its for real. havnt checked the numbers yet. can you just tell me where i actually wanna post this or if ya have a second shoot me a reply? thanks guys
You can try posting on the Bench for questions. Neither front or rear bumper are the same. They are 1 year only. If you have a 300 in there now and it runs good I wouldn't bother with a 340. You can upgrade the trans/rear then go from there. I had a 300 w/3.73 and th400 and it went pretty good for what it was. Then a 68/350 then a 455. Ray
Although there are plenty of parts from a 66 that will work on your 67 special, including fenders, doors and quarters, the bumpers will NOT work. There are design differences that make them incompatible. Also not compatible are the hood, grill, trunk lid and tail lights, just to name a few things that differ from the two model years.
That's not necessarily so. Get a paypal account and watch ebay. It's the only place to get parts. I bought triple chromed bumpers from Alberta a while back but from this site. There is bumpers $599 each on ebay. I know near me it would be $1000 each. I'm in Ont.. Ray
are there any other years/models that I could be looking for as parts cars? if the opportunity arises. All I really need as far as body parts, trim goes is bumpers, one wheel trim moulding, a grill, and two pieces of side trim, the very end of the beltline trim on the rear quarter, all of about 8" long. i was just cruising ebay and found some stuff that I will look into so thats awesome, appreciate that. But I still wouldnt mind finding something of a parts car just for little clips and stuff if I get in a real bind, and more just to have than anything else i guess. Thanks guys. PS was it a shop or private seller that you got bumpers from in Alberta?
