Steve, I just came back from Virginia. Yes, I had to go through South Carolina. I do not understand why on earth that state has not three laned I 95 except in the major cities I do not understand. Nothing but a big booger to get stuck in the entire length.
It is absolutely criminal that the state reduced Die-95 to 3 lanes each way in some spots around Fort Lauderdale so they could have 2 express lanes each way. Sure, I pay to drive in the express lanes, but not everyone has that luxury and they get stuck in ridiculous backups that the state created. When was I-95 three lanes each way down here? 1990?
I graduated college from FAU in 1982. They were starting to three lane I 95. Even with the construction going on, I could race Porsches and other exotic cars on my Suzuki 1000 on the way home. Usually I could make it from Boca Raton to Lake Worth in a little over 10 minutes. The good old days! By the way, my motorcycle always beat those cars, no matter what they were! Your other argument, oh hell yes! Where they get the right to put those toll lanes in and call them Xpress lanes? I don’t understand?
14 lanes? Almost passed the exit? No problem-someone in an Altima, with three bald tires and a minispare, bungie cords holding the bumper and trunk, looking through tinted windows with more bubbles than a circus clown, will cross all 14 in one sharp dive. https://www.google.com/search?q=big...ate=ive&vld=cid:9e0402ad,vid:wH2LkFlXGlw,st:0 Patrick
We were returning from Edmonton last summer, pulling our 31 foot travel trailer at highway speeds (110 KPH 68 MPH) and travelling in the right lane. Now, we are about 50 feet long and hard to miss, but, a small car with 4 senior citizens in it decided at cross my front right on the bumper to stop at a rest stop. I stomped on the brake and prayed, sure I was going to flatten their car. I do not know how I missed hitting them as they just pulled up so their back bumper was even with my front. My wife, Jenny tells me that she was certain we should have run over them, but she feels a hand of the Lord moved their car over. I wanted to stop and tear into them, but, no. I was already shaking. Long story for a short point.... stupid drivers are everywhere!
Just the latest version of p!ssing down our backs and telling us it's raining. It's brilliant from their side, Building more lanes is hard and expensive, and may not work depending you believe, so... they figured out a way to monetize the HOV lanes and the situation. Make traffic worse, charge for the "Express Lanes" according to how bad the traffic is, only limited by what the traffic, literally, will bear, and hire an outside firm to manage it. It's got all of the buzzwords and sayings: Express. Dynamic Pricing. Ensure you experience more reliable trip times. It must be good.
