A friend of mine is interested in buying one of my spare Buick 350's to put in his '84 Bonneville. The car currently has a worn-out 305. Will the frame mount pads from my '71 skylark bolt into the G-body chassis, or will we need to find a set of G-body 3.8L v6 frame pads? Also, it looks like the outlet of the 305 Y-pipe is very close to where the Buick 350 A-body Y-pipe would be. Does anyone know if the '71 Buick 350 Y-pipe will bolt up to the (previously gutted) catalytic converter on the '84? Thanks!
i have a buick 350 in my 79 olds cutlass (A)g body,i dont know what mounts were used as the motor was already in ,it came out of a 71 skylark and it had the original y pipe and it fit right in.had pipes custom bent from the manifolds back,i dident want to chance headers not fitting because the motor wasent intended for the g body(very similar to the full size).the 350 has a lot of similarities to the 3.8 (231) as far as the accessories mounting up i dont know about the mounts.
Use the 3.8L V6 G-body frame mount pads AND the 3.8L rubber motor mounts...Then the 350 will be a direct bolt-in... At least that is the info that I have recieved about doing a 350 swap in place of a 231...In my case, instead of doing a 3.8L swap into an 86 Toy 4x4 pickup(very popular swap back in the day), I am going to be putting a 350 Buick in instead :Brow: The accessory brackets for the 350 and the V6 are the same...
