OK so Larry has convinced me that my Edelbrock is a piece of crap best suited for a wannabee cheby. My Skylark came to me with a sickly Rochester 2 bbl that immediately got swapped out for a Rochester 4 bbl that was donated from my Corvette. It turns out that the Rochester wasn't even right for the 'Vette, it was off some old cheby pick up. After a while the Rochester got sick and quit and the easiest/quickest thing to do was to buy an Edelbrock off the shelf. So what do I need to get it all right? My Skylark is a '71 with a 350 but the heads are from a '73, just to confuse things. What would be the correct carburetor and where can I get one?
This is not a concours show car so I guess one that works right versus a "factory original" would be OK.
I would suggest a 70 to 73 Buick Quadrajet for 350. These would have divorced choke set up. If you want an electric choke, you could do mid 70's. I have several here and I could build one fresh for you if you are interested.
  Hey, don't blame it all on me, I just quoted Cliff Ruggles.:idea2:  I'm sure Carmantx can set you up.
Here's another quote: "The only good sound an Edelbrock Performer carb makes around here, is when it "tinks" off the dumpster outside the shop"......Cliff
OMG Cliff...............gotta love that quote............no doubt DVE, Cliff has got his stuff straight......please follow his guidance and you will be very pleased with the way your BQuick runs.
I second what Steve say about Cliff. I bought Cliff's book and reworked my carb, using one of his recipe. It was up and running, after a couple of emails he help me fine tune it and I must say I never had a carburetor respond like this.
Same here, and the board was very usefull tool as well. I did the same thing that you are getting ready to do and I and am very pleased with the results. That reminds me, I need to sell that old carb!
