Why do they call some skylarks "stepchilds"?

Don't feel bad, they call the 73's the bastards with the cowcatchers up front.

It's like the 78 AMC Matador, some people liked those. I always liked the 78 Monza Spider, but not too many people like those.

Wheels & tires make them look good.
On a more door car, not much you can do .....

Max Damage I'm working on it!

I am partial to the stepchildren as I find the 70-72 design to be over generic. I guess whatever floats your boat.

    Stepchildren are cheaper too.

The radiused step children are starting to grow on me. The factory rear wheel opening makes it look like grandma's cars, but you can't take the fender skirts off.

    Dave,
That car always drove me crazy with how "perfect" it was. Never noticed until now that it came with the factory stripes. Phil's car is a little newer then mine. His stripes do not go over the rear wheel well like mine do.

I always thought the 68-69's were "iffy looking" till one day around 1981 a older woman pulled beside me at a light going straight while in my 66 with this gorgeous 69 triple gold with Stage 1 emblems on the side scoops.. First ever 69 Stage 1 I had seen..
She had a friendly smile a wide long because she new my buddie and I were drooling. I swear I had never seen a muscle car so mint. Like it was painted and chromed 10 times! Changed my opinion of 68's and 69's quickly.
What a sweet idle it had.. I turn left to do a complete U turn across the trolley tracks and 3 seconds later I here brakes squeal and a smash..
She hit someone from behind:(. From a little distance I could see the hood dented up. I kept going as it was a very busy area.
Wasn't a total by any means but I really hope they matched the color and I assume the grill well. Mentioning it because till this day I get a pit in my gut and felt for that poor lady.
That car was so mint at 13 years old that I think it still has to be around..

People with Duane are my son Drew and his wife, Katy. She had never been in a "fast" car before, hence the giggles....:D

My passengers don't giggle. I've made most of them scream in terror:D I can get the car to pull really hard in 2nd gear without breaking the tires loose, and they feel woozy, and get that feeling in the pit of their stomach:p There is nothing for them to hold onto, and they are at the Mercy of Buick torque.

I was being a little cautious, besides Drew and Katy I also had a foreign exchange student with me. Not the time to do anything crazy.
