I have a built 455 with trw forged pistons that have been fly cut, a cam with about 540 lift, ta shorty headers, and a b4b. Can an 800cfm carb handle this? Thanks Herb
Herb, sounds a lot like my 464. Are you talking about an 800 CFM QJet? If so, it will need a few modifications, but that is what we are running on ours. On the dyno, it only picked up about 7 horsepower when they put on a 950 holley. If you are thinking 800 cfm QJet, I'll let you know what I did to ours to make it work. I love Qjets. And Phillip is right, my son shifts at 5200 and rev limiter is set at 6000 on our car. HP and Torque quit at about 6000. When we change converters, we will go with an SPX intake and proform 950 and go up to around 6000 to shift.
I have a 800 qjet on a 462 stage two engine and it works great smaller cam then yours and shorty headers , the car has run 11.3 @121 and will go faster with this carb. I had it rebuilt by john osborne.
