Okay, need some help here. I know that there's springs (conical-looking) that fit onto the window crank shaft, along with a big plastic washer. After having reviewed the manuals, though, I can't tell how they go together- does the door panel have to come off to install all? Which way does the washer go on (it's kind of hat-shaped, so it has to fit one way or the other), how do you get the retaining clip on after the whole thing is together?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Conical washer goes on with the large end first. You can gently spiral it in to sit behind the door pad.
Washer goes on with the hollow end out towards the interior. The retainer "C" clip is round wire & the end of the window crank shaft has a taper.
Put the clip on the handle & start the handle on the shaft. A good hard push will force the clip to guide up over the taper & seat itself. Give it a good pull to make sure it caught. The "C" clip will occupy the hollow void in the washer once installed.
With the window up, the handles were usually factory installed at about a 45 deg. angle, up & towards the front.
