So I am ready to install the windshield on my 72 skylark and have a few questions after perusing the posts I could search out.

I have heard both good and bad about using 3/8in butyl to seal the windshield. Whats the scoop? If I use the 3/8" stuff can I squish it enough to get the trim on? I like the 3/8 because it will give me plenty of material where I need it, in some less-than flat repaired areas. Real world experiences anyone?

Is there any way I can tell if my windshield is OEM or a replacement?

    Thanks!

Call around. Here a big mobile service will come and install one at my place turn key cheaper than I can buy the glass.

A friend just had one installed in a F body for $150 total (labor and materials) and the service traveled 60 miles round trip.

Be sure and check for leaks before installing the trim.

do not use butyl. go to an auto glass shop & have them install with the two part epoxy glues that are used in modern cars.
