My 71 GS has 2-1/4" holes for wiring between the body and hinge side of the doors. The flexible wire looms I've found are all much smaller. I'm wondering if anyone knows where I could get looms and grommets to fit that size?

    Thanks,

The large holes are for the rubber power window wiring boots...the boots are reproduced I believe (check The Parts Place, Year One, etc)

I have a pair of used boots....may have a tear or two in the small holes where the push pins go through the boots but otherwise very nice condition.

Thanks, Patton. Would you be willing to post or e-mail a pic of the boots?

    Dennis,

I have a real nice set of boots. If you are interested, send me an email address and I can send pics tomorrow.

Here's a couple pics....the rubber boots are nice and pliable...not dried out, cracking, etc.

Pics show which holes have tears in them. I'm not sure if the tears can be successfully glued together as these are rubber. However, the boots are designed to stay put in the correct sized holes with a shoulder or ridge that's molded into the boot below each flange but I suspect the holes (with the associated push pins) may also help keep them in place. I don't own a power window car so I'm not familiar with how much stress is placed on the boots when the doors are open. I can check that tomorrow on a car equipped with these boots and power windows (doing some other work on the car).

To sum up the first pic below....there are 8 push pin holes total (4 on each boot)....

    >5 have tears

    >3 are not torn

I may have new pushpins as well for the boots.

Carl's may be the better bet if you don't want to have to worry about the torn holes.

Patton, thanks for taking the time to post those pics. I did decide to go with Carl's. But your gas tank mat is in my car. :TU:

Thanks Dennis! I figured I'd go ahead and post pics...that'll "get them out there" is someone else is looking for a pair. In the meantime I'm going to see what I can do to repair the tears in the rubber.

    Thanks again.:3gears:
