I thought I saw on thier website that you can order a whole set, or singles for replacement. http://www.wiseco.com/Catalogs/Automobile.aspx http://www.wiseco.com/PDFs/Catalogs/PT06_BuickChrysChevy.pdf Replacement Piston P/N: 5054H4 Flat Top & 5055H4 for the -22cc Dished Both are Bore Size 4.350" If you have a problem ordering one, let me know I have a good middle man for Wiseco stuff.
You can buy a full set,.040 over, approx. 650 grams, with pins and rings from Summit for about $475. That's alittle secret some of our Vendors sorta hate that we know it..... Gary G.
Ya know, I'd have to look at mine, but they my be flat tops. Yes, forged and notched. And Weisco said they can take up to a 200 shot of nitrous. You still may be able to get dished ones, like I said I gotta check, or call Weisco and get the part number, then call Summit. Gary G.
I've heard somewhere that this is a no-no. Something about the pin to top of piston dimension not working.
Compression height is good, not sure if the valve notches are correct. Also you would have to get the ones for bbc pins".990" and run bbc rods. Its doable.
Here's what is on the wiseco.com website (Pro Tru): Flat Top #PT054H4, -8.43 cc, 11.8:1 Flat Top #PT054H5, -8.43 cc (different rings from above I think), 11.8:1 Reverse Dome # PT055H4, -22cc, 10.3:1 Ratios are calculated from 0.010" in the hole and .038" gasket, bore is 4.350" Give Bobb Makley (or Jeff) a call at 616-765-5101 (Finishline), they carry these pistons.
No disrespect to the Buick Parts Vendor out there, but this Thread is starting to kill me!! I guess all the other Buick guys out there are just cash loaded!! I'm on here telling you that you can get the Weiscos' cheaper thru Summit, and people keep listing different Buick specific vendors, WHY????? As I stated, Mike P. of AM&P, A man I have great respect and admiration for, called me and just couldn't believe that Summit was beating his price, I am NOT cash loaded and will look for the better deal, on some items, and I do know that this can & will hurt the vendors like Mike P, but to save money is always good. Good luck with your "search", when I was searching for pistons for my race motor, after many calls to piston makers, Weisco was affordable, somewhat light, and had them as an "on the shelf" item, not a custom piston, that will cost at least $70 per piston, and Weisco sales steered me in the direction of Summit, nuf said............... Gary G.
Gary Is that price including rings? The prices I've seen thru the Buick vendors was $595 +/- including rings.
pistons I just bought a bunch of parts and there is some wiseco dish pistons in there, I'll have a look ..........Chris
Pistons I gotta go with what is cheapest quality and summit is it. And my cousin works there and can get a massive discount on them too.
>...cheaper thru Summit, and people keep listing different Buick specific vendors, WHY????? ....< I'm with you. Stuff they can get online or at the local Advance/O'reilly/Napa/CSK cheaper and still they will tell you to go to a specific vendor. I don't get it.
Maybe some people (myself included) did not know you could get them from say Summit, they hardly carry anything else for Buicks. Thanks for the tip.
I think one of the issues regarding Summit and what they carry for Buicks is that you seldom see it in their magazines/catalogs and you often need to know the specific part number to find it in an online search. I can't remember their name now, but there was an online auto parts store that came out with guns blazing about 5 years ago. They were offering 30% off coupons, etc... in all the big magazines. It turns out that they had the Buick 455 Performer, but you couldn't find it online. I called them up with the part number, they gave me their 30% off, and I had it shipped for $190 total. Not long after, when more of their "performance" parts came online, it was marked up a disgusting amount. Their coupons started to fade, and it still wasn't a deal. I'm not even sure if they sell parts anymore. But getting back to Summit - they've often got the parts, they just don't let us know. I think it's only been the last year or so that the Performer showed up in their catalog. I know I've never seen ANY pistons for big block Buicks in it.
