    hello from Germany!
Can anyone tell me how to get the white knobs (with the Buick letters)
off from the radio? One is broken and I whant to change it.
Does anyone has maybe a manual?
What is the difference between the wonderbrar and sonomatic radios?
Thanx for helping me - greetings from the black forest Germany - Oli :TU:

    Wonder No Moe!

    Herby,

Fritz here. I have a 60 Electra also and I believe the buttons are removed by slowly pulling the button towards you one at a time.

It will first pull out into the half way position that is used when you want to set the "memory" on a station. You find the station you like, pull the button out half way then push it back in, and that is now the button for that station (forgive me if you already know this but I thought I'd explain while we were talking just in case).

I believe if you continue to slowly and firmly pull on the button it will come off the posts they are mounted on.

While you have them off, I would recommend filling the hollow underside of the buttons in with epoxy or a similar product. Those buttons are very brittle and this will keep the front of the button from caving in when you push on it.

Now Sonomatic verses Wonderbar. Sonomatic is the basic, no frills AM radio.

The Wonderbar is the top of the line for 1960. Not sure if yours has it or not but my car even has an extra button on the floor board (looks like a high beam headlight button) that is used to change the channels.

If it doesn't have that, the "bar of wonder" is the bar with "Wonderbar" engraved on it. This was an early type of seeking system for strong channels in the AM band.

You are on a trip and your presets get out of range? No problem, hit the chrome Wonderbar button on the radio (or floor) and it will find the first strong channel, now you can set this channel with the buttons as described above (halfway and back in) or "hit the bar" :beer  again and it will continue on to the next station.

I was at a car show last night and explained this to people wondering the same thing. After I explained it I said "Speaking of Wonderbar, my friend and I were wondering where the bar was around here :Dou:

Hope this helps you and good to hear from Germany :TU:

    Fritz out
