WOT Shudder

When I launch, the tires spin for about 10 yards and then finally hook. At the time it hooks, the car lays down and shudders (like on a slight rev limiter) until I back of the throttle just a tad.

It's possible that when the shudder happens the car loses power, and thats why it seems to hook-up.

Anyway, what's the deal? Fuel supply should be OK, I run a mechanical and electric.

Maybe the carb? It's a vac. secondary holley (demon actually). I'm running the purple spring.

    ...stumped! :Dou:

When you hook up it would apply additional Gs to the car potentially uncovering the secondary jets. If you do have extensions, nevermind, ...if you don't have extensions, get some.:TU:

    I hadn't thought of that.

I always thought my green car needed extensions because the car would kind of "bog" in unison with the front suspension bouncing off the ground from the launch. Every time it would land and then bounce & bottom out 2-3 times, you could hear the motor change sound from the jets getting uncovered.

In the white car, it really does sound like the stutter of a two-step. Different than the green car. Do you guys still think extensions??

Fuel level is right-on in both bowls. Do you think if I temporarily raise the level that I could test the need for jet extensions?

I'm thinking of swapping another carb to rule out the carb question.

    Thanks for the feed back.:TU:

If you run slicks on anything somewhat fast with a carb, you NEED jet extensions. Raising the float level high enough to hide the problem will just give you more headaches like stalling and bad idle from fuel dripping out the boasters especially when you hit the brakes which will most likely stall the car from flooding. And buy the screw in type with a notched float. The slide over extension, to sum it up, SUCK!
