http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/pts/5069724312.html The ad says from a 78 Lesabre? I thought the 455 was last available in '76? I think that this would be a good candidate for a build for the wagon or a future Buick purchase/project. Know where a 65(?) Skylark, a 72 Suncoupe, and a 74 Gran Sport 455 is. One plus it has the tranny too and it is local and at a $100 buck. Thoughts. Tim
The first two photos show the 455 being advertised. The other photos show the other engines mentioned in the ad. If the color is original, it's a '75 or '76 455. Without teardown and inspection, you'll never know just what you're getting into, but if the reciprocating assembly isn't frozen, $100 isn't much of a gamble. Devon
Yeah I would roll the dice and see what happens as long as it the 455 stamp is there, id load it up. Worse come to worse there are at least 100 dollars worth of useable parts there.
It's the right colour and HEI, that is a 75 or 76 455. My 455 is a 75, I would have no hesitation about picking up the engine in the ad.
I'd say that's a deal. For the mopar guys out there, that 440 is a bargain too. Contrary too popular belief, the late blocks are the best. The main webbing to the cylinder is much thicker, or "wider, per-say". The cylinder walls are stout as well.
I emailed the seller and asked what the engine # where: 455 8 1241735 so going by Jim's ID thread it would be a later 455. Tim
And as I said I still wouldn't hesitate. There are enough parts on that to make it a good deal regardless of the internal condition of it.
